2.  From your list, what are the best books you read and would recommend? Why?

The best book I read was the “Boys in the Boat” by Daniel James Brown. I would recommend this book to anyone who likes sports and wants to be inspired. This book showed multiple times that if you work towards your goal you have a good chance of achieving it. This is why the “Boys in the Boat” is second in Amazon’s best sports books, under the book, “Unbroken”. I am reading “Unbroken” and again the book brings a great message, no matter what your family background is you can always succeed in your goals.

3. Read and comment on a blog post (choose a reading response or social awareness writing project from this marking period) from each student in your group. Comments should be 3-5 sentences; see guidelines from previous post.

As part of your reflection, write down:
  • Names of students you commented on and the title of their blog post
  • What you liked best about his/her blog post

Demitrius - Demitrius Hilerio Class 810 Divergent Book Club Reading Response 11/6/14 - I liked how he in his article used many quotes to support his stance on the topic. His quotes were both powerful and supportive at the same time.

Anthony - Ela draft, Ela piece #2, Ela piece #3 - I liked his poem about how war doesn’t do anything but kill people. In this poem he showed that people can fight but nothing more will come from fighting but people being killed. I thought that this poem showed that people should be more careful before starting a major war.

Isaiah - Argument Essay by Isaiah Jerry - I liked Isaiah’s essay because he showed that people have to think before they blame someone. For example, in his essay one of this quotes was, "Students have the option of being excused from reading the stories.". This quote showed that even though the teacher is presenting a book, that doesn’t mean you have to read it. The students have the choice to read the book or not.

4. What are your reading goals for the next two months (at least 2)?
One of my reading goals for the next two months is to read more, I have to spend more time reading. My second goal is to start reading more history. I would like to learn more about what happened in the world, especially during World War 2.

5. What are your writing goals (at least 2)?
My writing goals are to become better at editing my work and to make my work sound better with more sentence structure, to have more sentence starters.
