When I was at the photo exhibition in the Museum of the City of New York made by Jeff Chien-Hsing Liao, I thought about how a city can change so much between day and night. I liked that the photographer made a panorama of each borough. This showed the differences between the boroughs from the day and night picture in the Bronx to the picture of the Brooklyn Botanical Garden. The picture of the Botanical Garden was interesting because the photographer took a picture with people showing modern trends. Such as the two people taking a selfie next to a the beautiful and blooming trees. All of his pictures had extremely interesting ideas in them. For example one of his pictures was of the Macy's Parade, in the picture there were again people taking selfies but, the photographer also added some balloons to the picture. His editing added an interesting effect to the picture.
The Social Activism exhibit in the museum made me think the most. When I saw the short movies about the bikers protesting against the laws for bike lanes I thought about how two places can be so different. In the Netherlands, where all of the 16 million people own a bike, there are lots of bikers, and also some basic laws to keep everything in order. But, in New York City the bike lane laws have to be extreme. For example you are not aloud stop on the bike lane. If you do, you will receive a ticket of $150. This shows that two countries can react very differently to the same idea, bike lanes. With the protests in New York these unnecessary bike lane laws have been stopped. All in all I thought that the protests had an interesting idea, they showed that the police don’t have all of the power.
